Round Dance Instruction and Cueing

About Us

Tony & Carolyn are Round Dance cuers and instructors in Springfield, Missouri. They met in 2007, after each losing their spouses. Tony had just started Round Dancing. Carolyn had been Round Dancing since 1993, and wanted to accelerate his learning process so she learned to cue and taught him in their basement. He was a very quick student, and they have now been teaching together since 2009.

They run a Round Dance club called Twirl-A-Rounds, which meets every Wednesday evening. There is a beginner's class followed by a Phase II-IV workshop and dance. They also host a Sunday afternoon dance each quarter, which is attended by dancers from Springfield, Joplin and even St. Louis. Tony & Carolyn also cue at various out-of-town dance events.

They enjoy choreographing and have published over twenty dances including: I Like You (CH III), I Love To Watch A Woman Dance (WZ III), Don't Stop (JV III), Mary Did You Know (RB III), Just the Way You Are (JV IV) and Girl Crush (STS IV).

Before retiring, Carolyn taught junior high and high school English and French for 20 years and university-level English As A Second Language for ten years. As well as dancing, she enjoys playing duplicate bridge. Tony is a retired Master Electrician and an active Master Gardener. They both enjoy traveling. They have one son and six grandchildren, including twin boys born in February 2016.

In addition to Round Dancing, they have also been active at the District, State and National levels of Square Dancing. They look forward to serving as Vice-Chairman of Rounds for the National Square Dance Convention in Kansas City in 2018.
